  • Brabham, Gene & Wurz win Le Mans 2009

Former Formula 1 drivers David Brabham, Marc Gene and Alexander Wurz teamed together in the #9 Peugeot car won the 2009 Le Mans 24 hours. Peugeot took a convincing 1-2 finish, ending the run of Audi victories who won the previous 5 bouts in the historic French race.

The second Peugeot finished just 1 lap behind and was driven by Sebastian Bourdais, Franck Montagny and Stephane Sarrazin.

    Current Formula One drivers, test drivers and former drivers were scattered throughout the grid, here's how they got on;

    • Christijan Albers (46 GPs 2005-2007) 9th LMP1 Audi
    • Sebastian Bourdais (25 GPs 2008-present) 2nd LMP1 Peugeot
    • David Brabham (30 GPs 1990-1994) 1st LMP1 Peugeot
    • Anthony Davidson (24 GPs 2002-2008) 13th LMP1 Lola-Aston Martin
    • Tomas Enge (3 GPs 2001) 4th LMP1 Lola-Aston Martin
    • Marc Gene (36 GPs 1999-2004) 1st LMP1 Peugeot
    • Christian Klien (48 GPs 2004-2006) 6th LMP1 Peugeot
    • Pedro Lamy (32 GPs 1993-1996) 6th LMP1 Peugeot
    • Jan Magnussen (25 GPs 1995-1998) 15th GT1 Corvette
    • Allan McNish (17 GPs 2002) 3rd LMP1 Audi
    • Franck Montagny (7 GPs 2006) 2nd LMP1 Peugeot
    • Olivier Panis (158 GPs 1994-2004) 5th LMP1 Oreca
    • Stephane Sarrazin (1 GP 1999) 2nd LMP1 Peugeot
    • Mika Salo (111 GPs 1994-2002) 18th GT2 Ferrari
    • Jos Verstappen (107 GPs 1994-2003) 13th LMP1 Lola-Aston Martin
    • Alexander Wurz (69 GPs 1997-2007) 1st LMP1 Peugeot

For interest former Jordan driver Narain Karthikeyan was entered in the #14 Audi, however he dislocated his shoulder when jumping over the pit wall just before the start, unfortunately as a result he didn't have any running in the car.

This is the first time I've watched Le Mans somewhat properly, and it was great, I'm definatley going to do with full 24 hours next year :)
