Debut & Jordan (2005)

In 2004 Tiago signed as Minardi test driver, however it was the following season when he got his F1 break, bagging a seat with the Jordan team. He won his first world championship points in the highly controversial United States Grand Prix where only 6 cars raced, taking 3rd position. This makes him the most successful Portugese F1 racer ever.

He scored another point in Belgium, finishing 6th, bringing his 2005 tally to 7.

Midland F1 (2006)

Tiago kept on at the Jordan team for the 2006 season, albeit re-named Midland and then Spyker. However the team struggled with a slow and often unreliable car, and failed to score any championship points in 2006.

Post F1

Following his two years in F1, Monteiro has raced in the World Touring Car Championship for the SEAT team.
