Sébastien Buemi is a Swiss racing driver who has had a brief career in Formula 3, A1 Racing and in the GP2 series.
Before being catapulted into bright light of Formula 1, he was the Red Bull Racing test and reserve driver for the 2008 Season. On one very rare occasion Buemi was asked to drive the medical vehicle at the 2008 Japanese Grand Prix as the regular diver Dr Jacques Tropenat had been suffering from an ear problem
Debut & Toro Rosso (2009-Present)
On the 9th January he was confirmed as one of Toro Rosso's race drivers for the 2009 season. Over winter testing Buemi had continually outperformed other F1 drivers and shown he had speed to be in F1.
His F1 debut was at the 2009 Australian Grand Prix, where he qualified 13th and finished 8th. However with the disqualification of Lewis Hamilton Buemi was promoted to 7th. Scoring 2 points on his debut race. Another point came for Buemi at the 2009 Chinese GP finishing in 8th. However a mid season slump then came for Buemi who struggled to get to grips with the STR4.
A surge from the young Swiss driver came late on in 2009, securing 3 top 10 grid starts in Japan, Brazil & Adbu Dhabi. He also managed to collect points at both Brazil & Abu Dhabi. He set to remain with Toro Rosso for 2010.
