Debut & Jordan (2003)
Ralph came into Formula 1 for the 2003 season driving for the struggling Jordan Team and partnering the very experienced Giancarlo Fisichella. His debut was at the 2003 Australian GP, but he went off early on in the race, mimicking a similar accident of Rubens Barrichello the lap before. This would sort of set the scene for the season as the troublesome EJ13 was difficult to drive and unreliable.
Firman did manage to register his and so far his only point score in F1 at that years Spanish GP, where the Brit came home in 8th position for 1 point. However in practice for the 2003 Hungarian GP Firman was involved in a major crash after his rear wing had failed. He went backwards into a tyre barrier at over 180 mph and was knocked unconscious.
Ralph was forced to sit out the Hungarian GP and was deputised in the race by Hungarian driver Zsolt Baumgartner. He was also unable to race at the following race in Italy. However he did return for the final to races of the season, but unfortunately the Brit was not resigned for any team going into 2004.
Following that Firman went onto compete in the Le Mans 24 Hour race as well as test drive for the A1 Grand Prix Series.
