Early Career

Like many other racing drivers Paul started in karting before moving onto compete in Formula Renault for 2003 & 2004. In 2005 & 2006 Di Resta raced for the Manor team in Formula Three, winning the championship in only his second year as well as claiming McLaren’s Young Driver of The Year Award.

With his success there Paul moved onto race for Mercedes in DTM. The Young Scot had managed a test with the McLaren Formula 1 team and looked hopeful for a race seat with Force India for 2009, however it did not come to be

However all was not lost. With Fisichella leaving Force India for Ferrari mid way through the 2009 season and Liuzzi moving up to fill the vacant race seat, an opening arose in the team for Di Resta. He was eventually signed as the Teams Test Driver for 2010 in early February. He is hopeful for a race seat with the team in 2011, possibly earlier if Liuzzi is not fast enough.
