Italian GP 
Debut & McLaren (1995)
Jan had a one-off drive for McLaren in 1995 at Japan for the Pacific Grand Prix, he finished 10th - he took the place of the unwell Mika Hakkinen.
Stewart (1997-1998)
He signed for Stewart in 1997, however with an unreliable car neither he or his teammate Rubens Barrichello could make much impact on the championship. His best result was 7th in a rainy Monaco.
Jan raced the first 7 races for Stewart in 1998, then being replaced by Jos Verstappen. In his final F1 race, round 7 in Canada he scored his first, last and only point in Formula 1, 6th.
Post F1
Since F1 he has raced in CART, Touring cars, and ALMS.
